the 46th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair

Humm!! it's the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry once again:

Brief facts about the fair
  •  1000 companies
  •  about 3000 booths
  •  235 international companies
  •  30,000 visitors

Bangkok Gems & Jewelry fair (BJGJF) is co-orgainized by by Thai Gems and Jewelry Traders Association and Thai Governemt's Department of Export and Promotion(DEP). It is bi-annual Gems and Jewelry fair being held on March and September.

The fair is quite old or started 23 years ago. I remembered that the first venue was at DEP's premises in Ratchadapisek road, then with more companies joined in, it moved to Queen Sirikit Conventional Center and until now at the Challenger Hall, Muangthong Thani.

Some observations are that most companies's entrepreneurs  have retired or handed over their business to their sons or daughters, more foreign comanies joined in, be it, from India, Hong Kong and European and lastly but very important, I think the fair is on the downturn trend and indeed need urgent effort from the people concern.

The strength of the industry lied solely on the skillful craftworkers and gems cutters. We don't have the raw materials such as gemstones, gold, silver or even marketing experience. If the industry will survive, I think, we need more co-operation and sacrifice from the TGJTG's members
