Diamond

While selling my Diamond Jewelry, I was oftenly asked by customers to comment on the value of Diamond Jewelry they were wearing. This is a very difficult question for me as I may quote the price too high or too low. Most of the time, I quoted it very low which gave them eye and mouth open. I based my price on wholesale manufacturing cost plus profit.

The easier question for me is to explain to them how to check a good diamond criteria. The basic knowledge of diamond to look is 4C's. That is Cut, Clarity, Color and Carat.
Cut: means its facets.Standard cut will have table, crown, birdle, pavillion as shown

Clarity: by its nature almost all diamonds have blemishes called "inclusion"
The terms we use are IF (Internally Flawless), VVS 1, VVS 2 (Very, Very Slight Inclusions), VS 1, VS 2 (Very Slight Inclusions) SI 1, SI 2 (Slight Inclusions) I 1, I 2 (Inclusions)

Color: In Gemology, we rate the color of diamond from "D" (colorless) to "Z" (Saturated)

Carat: refers as the weight of diamond. One Carat is equivalent to .2 grams

Table below is useful information to check the weight vs width of your diamond
